For fixed internet connections in Turkey, the average download speed was 30.31 Mbps, the average upload speed was 8.31 Mbps and the latency was 25 milliseconds as of January, according to a report by the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP).
Both average download and upload speeds in Turkey were below the world average, says the report, citing measurements by Ookla company. The latency was higher than the world average.
Turkey ranked 103th among 175 countries and had the lowest average fixed internet speed in Europe, according to the report.
Mobile internet
As for mobile internet, the average download speed was 36.42 Mbps, the average upload speed was 14.82 Mbps and the average latency was 28 milliseconds.
Turkey's average download speed for mobile internet was below the world average and its average upload speed was higher than the world average. Its latency was also lower than the world average.
Turkey ranked 57th among 140 countries in mobile internet speed.
Prices
According to figures provided by Cable.co.uk, Turkey had the 21st highest price for mobile internet among 186 countries in 2020. The price of 1Gb of mobile internet was 0.72 US dollars.
The average price for a monthly fixed internet connection was 11.48 dollars and the average price of 10Gb of mobile internet was 7.2 dollars, which means a person earning minimum wage spends 4.95 percent of their monthly income for internet connection. (HA/VK)
